Filed EEOC Charge Claims Company Fired Single Mother Due to Son's Cancer Diagnoses

As reported by Fox news, Virginia Employment Law represents Rebecca Claussen, who was demoted and later terminated from employment with Salt Lake City-based marketing firm, the Summit Group. Ms. Claussen has filed a Charge of Discrimination with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging violations of the caretaker provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act. As Tommy stated in his interview, "Even though this person may meet all the essential functions of their job, the employer still has this mindset that the employee can't do this because of the care-taking scenario," Strelka said. Such conduct would violate the Americans with Disabilities Act. The TV-spot may be watched HERE.
