Doctor Cleared by Board of Health Professionals; Sues Former Employer that Fired Him
Virginia Employment Law filed a lawsuit in federal court in Danville, Virginia against a number of corporate entities regarding the wrongful termination of Dr. James Isernia. Dr. Isernia was accused by his employer of wrongful conduct regarding his treatment of patients. His employer falsely accused him of over-prescribing opioids. However, since his wrongful termination, Dr. Isernia has been contacted by former patients who have indicated that under their current care regiments, and in contrast to their care under Dr. Isernia, they are receiving greater volumes of opioids including the additions of Benzodiazepines in some cases. Dr. Isernia's employer submitted a maliciously false complaint to the Board of Health Professionals. However, after reviewing the matter, the Board exonerated Dr. Isernia and dismissed the complaint with no discipline. The Martinsville Bulletin and the Roanoke Times published articles on the matter which may be read HERE.
